| Forehead
Lift
USD 2,000
A forehead lift can smooth the forehead,
raise the upper eyelids, and minimize the frown lines that
come with aging. In preparation for the procedure, the hair
is tied back with rubber bands in front of and behind the
incision area. An incision is usually made across the top
of the head, just behind the hairline so that the scar won't
be visible.
Forehead skin is gently lifted and portions of facial muscle
and excess skin are removed. The incision is then closed with
stitches or clips.
Surgical Procedure
The method must be tailored to the individual
patients needs. The principle of this procedure is to elevate
the eyebrows in order to correct abnormally low eyebrows to
their correct position. The incisions for brow lifting are
hidden within the hair by placing them a few centimeters behind
the frontal hairline. The face and eyelids are not tightened
by a forehead lift, although the upper lid skin may be stretched.
In case of high hairline, the incision may be placed just
at the hairline, to avoid adding even more height to the forehead.
In case of patients who are bald or losing hair, a mid-scalp
incision that follows the natural pattern of the skull bones
is sometimes recommended. By wearing your hair down on your
forehead, most such scars become relatively hidden. Special
planning is sometimes necessary for concealing the scar in
male patients, whose hairstyles often don't lend themselves
as well to incision coverage.
If you are bald or have thinning hair, a mid-scalp incision
is recommend so the result of scar follows the natural junction
of two bones in your skull and is more effective in your appearance.
Working through the incision, the skin of the forehead is
carefully lifted so that the underlying tissue can be removed
and the muscles of the forehead can be altered or released.
The eyebrows may also be elevated and excess skin at the incision
point will be trimmed away to help create a smoother, more
effective in appearance.
Results
You may experience some numbness and temporary
discomfort around the incision, which can be controlled with
prescription medication. As the nerves heal, numbness on the
top of your scalp may be replaced by itching. These sensations
may take as long as six months to fully disappear.
Possible Risks
The possible main risks are swelling, bruising,
bleeding, infection, scarring and numbness, or change in sensation.
The problem to this operation can be a damaged to nerves on
the scalp, resulting in numbness behind the incision. This
risk is reduced but not eliminated with endoscopic forehead
lifting. Another problem may be a scar stretching as scars
do not grow hair, this may be noticeable in those with thin
hair. It can be treated surgically by removing the wide
scar tissue so a new, thinner scar may result.
Side Effects
The severity and duration of such side effects
may vary, especially if another cosmetic procedure was performed
at the same time. Loss of sensation along the incision area
is common occur and usually temporary. Also, in some
patients, hair loss may occur along the scar edges.
Recovery Period
The recovery takes one to two weeks.
In general you can go back to work a week or two.
Post Operative Care
It is recommended that you should limit
strenuous activities such as jogging, bending, heavy housework,
sex, or any activity that increases your blood pressure for
at least 2-3 weeks. Prolonged exposure to heat or sun should
be limited for several months.
