Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic
surgery operations. It is done by placing a small canula
into fatty layer and suction is applied until the fat is removed.
When complete, a pressure dressing will be worn to the suction
site to keep body contour in shape.
Results
After surgery, you will notice a difference
in your body shape. It will be obviously improved within
four to six weeks when most of the swelling is gradually cured.
After 9 weeks, the mild swelling will be gone and the
final contour will be visible.
Possible Risks
Bruises over the liposuction area are usually
seen on the first few days after surgery and will be disappear
in the first week. Waving skin, which is rare, may happen
because of excess fat removal.
After Care
Pressure garment has to be applied for a
few days after surgery in order to keep body contour in shape
and to reduce the post operative bruises.
Recovery Period
You need to stay one week in Bangkok for
post operative care.
Post Operative Care
You should avoid strenuous activities for
several weeks as your body heals, but within 4 to 6 weeks
you should be able to resume all normal activities. It’s
important to continue wearing the compression garment, which
should be easily hidden under your clothing, until your doctor
tells you that it is no longer necessary.
Preparation before Operation
Your surgeon will examine and evaluate your
overall physical weight, skin and muscle tone, and the pattern
of distribution of fat deposits. Your medical history record
will be checked completely, including your diet, exercise,
and weight history. You will need to inform your surgeon of
any medications you are currently taking.
Permanence of Liposuction Results
Fat cells that are removed by liposuction will not grow back as long as you do not gain excessive amounts of weight, the new, more pleasing silhouette is permanent. A woman, who always tends to put weight on her thighs and knees, will find that after liposuction, these areas are less likely than other areas to accumulate fat when she gains weight.
